Our Best Ever Audit Result of a AA Grade
To coincide with the opening of our newly refurbished cold store with a brand new ammonia plant and racking installation totaling over £1M worth of investment, we brought forward our annual BRC audit by six months to February so as to include this in the scope of our accreditation. The audit included our Glovers Meadow and Maes-y-Clawdd facilities with the scope of Frozen, Ambient, Packaging and Chilled storage along with Blast Freezing and Tempering. Simon Williams, General Manager said “We are absolutely delighted by our recent BRC audit result which extended the scope to include our newly opened facility. The team have worked extremely hard to deliver our best ever audit result of an AA grade with only 1 minor non conformance raised. This result demonstrates our passion for delivering a first class customer experience to all of our clients, as well as ensuring the highest levels of food safety” Cold Move now offers circa 13,000 pallet spaces of frozen, ambient and chilled warehousing space across six chambers with a combination of mobile, narrow and wide aisle static racking, as well as a blast freezing capacity of up to 200 pallets per day, all operating within the AA grade BRC Standard.

Cold Move Celebrate Success with BRC Global Standard
FSDF member Cold Move Ltd., a family owned and operated Cold Store in Oswestry, Shropshire, is celebrating after successfully passing their recent BRC Storage & Distribution audit. Having had various accreditation since 2001, Cold Move were one of the first warehousing operations to achieve Issue 1 of the BRC Global Standard for Storage and Distribution when it was launched in 2006, and have maintained accreditation consistently year on year since. General Manager, Simon Williams said "I am extremely proud of this year's audit result. The team work hard on delivering a first class service to our client base, and pride themselves on being an industry leader in Food Safety Procedures and HACCP. To pass our audit this year with only four minor non conformances is a testament to the proactive approach we adopt to Food Safety and Quality. We are looking forward to working towards to issue 3 of the BRC standard when it is launched next year, which will give a grading system for the first time. I believe under the new standard our result this year would have given us a AA grading" The current BRC Storage & Distribution standard issue 2, is an in depth audit of all systems and processes in place to ensure food safety. The audit covers seven key areas, which include HACCP, Senior Management Commitment, Operating Practices and Site and Building Standards. Issue 3 will be in place for audits from February 2017 onwards and is now available for download or hard copy from the BRC bookshop.

FSDF Pathway Programme
As part of our development programme, Cold Move has recently participated in the FSDF Pathway Programme, which has resulted in 29 of our people receiving a qualification in Warehousing and Storage Operations accredited by City and Guilds. The programme which ran over several months allowed our operations staff the opportunity to receive a formal qualification from their role within the business.
The scheme which has been extremely successful has been well received by our people, and the support from the FSDF has been excellent.
Pictured at the presentation ceremonies on 12th April are the successful candidates, along with James Woodward, Managing Director, Chris Sturman CEO of the FSDF and Simon Williams who participated as an Assessor.

Cold Move Gain BRC Certification

Both Oswestry and Golborne are now fully accredited to the BRC standard, with the scope covering, storage, distribution, blast freezing and tempering at Oswestry and our packing facility at Golborne.
The audits were a thorough inspection of our Quality Management System, HACCP, site facilities and standards, and was carried by NSF-CMi whom we have used for a number of years auditing us against their own technical standard for storage and distribution.
This success is further demonstration of the commitment Cold Move has to providing the highest level of standards and service to all of our customers.
